The teacher likes to invite these guest speakers, right, to tell the class that we can be successful too. Like them. My friend turns on his laptop and watches videos. I steal glances at his screen and try to draw something. This speaker, man, how can I describe her? She’s got a nice ass, and a silly haircut that bobs up and down with her pronounced body language. She is wearing a scarf and large earrings. She’s working with Disney and dated this guy from New Zealand but left him. They’re still friends, she says. Her speech is long and breaks often when she asks us questions like ‘how many of you are just working on a project that is still sitting on your computer,’ while her head is cocked to the side and her arms are up. People raise their hands and my friend puts his head down and pulls his hood over his face. Everyone’s face begins to light up when they raise their hands. They’re feeling spicy, exuberant, most importantly, inspired. Other people know they’ll be famous and they clutch their desks and want to wear yellow scarves and live in L.A across from the studios.
A kid across the room is looking at his phone. I don’t know why, but I suspect he’s messaging my ex-girlfriend and I begin to see red. I’ve never met this guy, never even seen him, never noticed him. I frown as their imaginary conversation and their eventual rendezvous take place in my head, and I laugh to myself at the possibility that I might be insane.
She’s still talking, talking about creativity. I’m ashamed I’m writing this, as if I was some sort of reaction to her voice. ‘Have any of you ever acted in a play?’ Are the lights flickering? No. My imagination. That ass. You can see it from the side.

Here at DropdeadFM, we believe in freedom of speach.. as anyone living in a country granted that right should do so.
